A. Commission Created; Members: There is hereby created a municipal planning commission of the city, to be composed of at least five (5) members. The mayor and the city engineer (local staff only) shall serve as ex officio members of said commission, without voting powers. (1985 Code § 1-39; amd. 2004 Code)
B. Appointment; Qualifications:
1. The members of the municipal planning commission shall be nominated for appointment by the mayor and confirmed by the city council, shall be residents of the city, and shall serve without salary. (1985 Code § 1-39)
2. The members of the municipal planning commission shall be appointed at large. (Ord. 388, 6-27-2006)
3. Each appointed member shall hold office for a term of three (3) years ending at seven thirty o'clock (7:30) P.M. on the first Monday in May, or until his successor takes office.
4. The appointed members of the commission shall be appointed solely with reference to their fitness and without reference to party affiliation. (1985 Code § 1-39)
Upon the initial appointment of members to the municipal planning commission, the mayor shall designate one member of the municipal planning commission to serve for a period of one year, two (2) members to serve for a period of two (2) years, and two (2) members to serve for a period of three (3) years. All subsequent appointments of members shall be for a three (3) year term, and until their successors are appointed and qualified. (1985 Code § 1-39)
A. Election Of Officers: Within five (5) days of the appointment and qualification of the members of the municipal planning commission, said commission shall meet and elect one of their number as chairman, one as vice chairman and one as secretary. In addition, the municipal planning commission may create and fill such other offices as it may deem necessary.
B. Terms Of Office: The term of all such offices shall be one year, with eligibility for reelection. (1985 Code § 1-39)
