ELECTED OFFICERS GENERALLY

2.08.010   Designated.
   The elective officers of the city shall be five commissioners and a municipal judge. (Prior code § 2-1-2)
2.08.020   Oath of office required.
   Any elected officer or subsequently appointed officer, shall take an oath of office or affirmation to support the constitution of the United States, the constitution and laws of New Mexico and faithfully perform the duties of his office. The governing body shall declare vacated the office of any person who fails, within ten days after he has been notified of his election or appointment to office, to take the oath of office. 2.08.030   Term of office.
   The municipal judge shall be elected for a four-year term. The five commissioners shall be elected for staggered periods of four years until their successors are elected and qualified. (Amended during 1992 codification: prior code § 2-1-4)
2.08.040   Qualifications.
   Any qualified elector may be a candidate for municipal office, provided he or she resides within the corporate limits of the city and has so resided for thirty days preceding the municipal election and is registered to vote within the city and within the district in which they live.
