When a fine shall be imposed for the violation of this code, the court may also sentence the defendant to pay the cost of the action and to be imprisoned until such fine and costs are paid. In no case, however, shall such imprisonment exceed ninety days and the court may also issue an execution against the property of the defendant for such fine and costs. (Prior code § 5-2-15)
