5-1-1: STATE VEHICLE LAWS ADOPTED:

   A.   Intent: It is hereby declared to be the intent of the city council to aid and assist by whatever means possible for the utmost consistency in traffic regulation among and between agencies of Idaho having such jurisdiction. Toward that end, adoption of the Idaho motor vehicle laws by the cities of Idaho is a necessary means of assuring maximum uniformity within the state.

   B.   Adoption Of Laws: There is hereby adopted for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the use of all streets and public thoroughfares of the city, that certain code, identified as the latest edition of the Idaho motor vehicle laws, more particularly Idaho Code title 49, published by the Idaho department of transportation, and as the same may hereafter be revised by the Idaho legislature or amended by the city council, and the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as an ordinance of the city as fully as though set forth at length herein.

   C.   Copy On File: One copy of the Idaho motor vehicle laws, together with any revisions or amendments, duly certified by the city clerk, shall be kept on file in the city clerk's office for use and examination by the public. (2004 Code)

5-1-2: MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY:

   A.   Local Traffic Regulations: In all matters relating to traffic control not covered in the stipulations of this traffic code, the city council shall have full power to make necessary regulations governing the same. In all points of dispute as to the interpretation of the stipulations of this code, the city council's decision shall be final and binding on all parties. (1983 Code § 10.04.040)

   B.   Signs And Signals: The city council has full power to erect or cause to be erected proper signs or signals on any street or street intersection or at any railroad crossing directing the method and time of parking, the character of vehicles allowed to park or stop and directing that vehicles shall stop or slow down at designated points; or notifying the public of the locations of schools and hospitals and dangerous street intersections or crossings or of any other conditions affecting the traffic and control of same. 5-1-3: OBEDIENCE TO TRAFFIC OFFICERS:

All persons driving or operating vehicles, riding horseback or walking on the streets and alleys shall at all times obey the orders, direction and signals of all traffic officers or city police directing traffic. (1983 Code § 10.04.030)
