When a loss of public funds, entrusted to the City Treasurer, City Clerk, or other public official of the city, results from fire, robbery, burglary, flood, or inability of a bank to refund public money lawfully in its possession belonging to the city, the City Council may release and discharge the Treasurer, Clerk, or other public official of the city from all personal liability to or demands of the city for the loss so created unless the loss resulted from his negligence or other wrongful act.

(A) The office of the City Solicitor is empowered to defend any employee, or board or commission member, on approval of City Council, not covered under the provisions of the city's liability insurance at the hourly rate provided for the City Solicitor in the city's ordinances.
(B) In the event that the Solicitor determines that, for whatever reason, City Council should employ additional counsel, the counsel may be employed at the hourly rate provided for the Solicitor by ordinance.

Limitation on Payments by Coin | |||
