Within said codes as adopted and approved by the South Carolina Building Codes Council in accordance with S.C. § 6-9-50, the Building Inspector for the city shall be the authorized designated official responsible insofar as to determine compliance with the provisions of all said codes herein as adopted and approved by the South Carolina Building Codes Council in accordance with S.C. § 6-9-50, and shall have the authority to render final interpretations and enforcement of all said codes. The authority and general responsibilities of the city’s Building Inspector shall supersede the authority and general responsibilities of any official indicated within said codes herein for the public safety of an existing or proposed activity, building or structure, or for the safety of the occupants thereof. Any actions derived from any official within said codes herein shall be subject to approval by the Building Inspector, with the exception of emergencies for the general safety and welfare of the public.
