§ 32.27 MEMBER’S COMPENSATION; NO FRINGE BENEFITS.

   All members of the Collierville Police Reserve shall be compensated at a rate of $1 per year but shall not be included in any civil service, retirement, life or health program or any other fringe benefits normally provided for employees of the Town of Collierville.

§ 32.28 APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS.

   All members of the Collierville Police Reserve shall be appointed by the Chief of Police.

§ 32.29 QUALIFICATION OF MEMBERSHIP.

   No person shall be eligible for membership in the Collierville Police Reserve unless they are 21 years of age or older, physically fit, psychologically fit, a U.S. citizen, never convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, possess a high school diploma or equivalent and of excellent character and reputation, as determined by the Chief of Police. Reserve officers may establish residency in Tennessee, Arkansas, or Mississippi so long as he or she is able to respond to duty within one hour.

§ 32.30 CONDITIONS PRECEDENT TO ENTERING UPON DUTIES.

   No person shall enter upon his or her duties as a member of the Collierville Police Reserve until he or she shall:

   (A)   Have been certified by a Tennessee Licensed Health Care Provider qualified in the psychiatric or psychological fields as being free from any impairment—as set forth in the edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association current at the time of examination—that would, in the professional judgment of the examiner, affect the person’s ability to perform an essential function of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation;

   (B)   Meet all Tennessee Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements for reserve officers.

   (C)   Only equipment issued by the Collierville Police Department or approved by the Chief of Police will be used when a reserve officer is on duty for the Town of Collierville.

§ 32.31 CHIEF OF POLICE TO COMMAND.

   The Chief of the regular Collierville Police Department or his or her designee shall have complete control, authority and command over reserves while on duty.

§ 32.32 EITHER THE TOWN OR MEMBER MAY TERMINATE SERVICE.

   Each reserve officer may resign from the Collierville Police Reserve unit at any time, but it shall be his or her duty to notify the Chief of Police of the desire to do so. Membership of any person may be terminated by the Chief of Police at any time he or she deems such to be necessary or for the good of the Police Department and reserve unit, and no member is considered permanent at any time with a right to appeal.

§ 32.33 TOWN WILL NOT FURNISH UNIFORMS.

   All members of the Collierville Police Reserve shall wear prescribed uniforms when performing duty with the Collierville Police Department. The uniform and all other personal equipment will be furnished the CPD.
