18-28-606.4.1 Connection to fire alarm system.
   In buildings with a fire alarm system, duct smoke detectors shall be connected to the fire alarm system in accordance with Section 907 of the Chicago Building Code.
   Exception: In buildings required to be equipped with a fire alarm system, actuation of a smoke detector shall activate a visible and an audible signal in an approved location. Smoke detector trouble conditions shall activate a visible or audible signal in an approved location and shall be identified as air duct detector trouble.

18-28-607 Ducts and Air Transfer Openings.
18-28-607.1 General.
   Ducts and air transfer openings in assemblies required to be protected shall be protected as provided in Chapter 7 of the Chicago Building Code.

Article VII. Combustion Air (18-28-701 et seq.)
18-28-701 General.
18-28-701.1 Scope.
   The provisions of this article shall govern the requirements for combustion and dilution air for fuel-burning appliances.
