2-84-460 Furloughs and leaves of absence.
   Members of the department of police shall be entitled to a leave of absence from duty with full pay according to their years of service as follows:
      Twenty-eight consecutive days each year for any member who has ten or more years of service;
      Twenty-four consecutive days each year for any member who has five to ten years of service;
      Twenty consecutive days each year for any member who has less than five years of service.
   In every case the superintendent of police shall designate when such leave of absence shall be taken; provided, however, that in the computation of the total time of service of any member of the police department, furloughs or leave of absence for over one month shall be excluded from such total time of service of such member of the police department; provided, however, further, that all members and employees of the department of police shall, in addition to the furlough above provided for, have a furlough of two days in each week on the average with full pay.
