The board shall have the power and authority to prescribe an appropriate form of badge to be worn by both regular and special members of the department by which, and at all times, the authority and relation of such officers and members of said department may be known. It shall make suitable regulations as to the wearing of such badge.
Every member of the department of police shall wear a suitable badge to be furnished by the city, and any member who shall lose or destroy the same shall be required to pay the cost of replacing it. Whenever any member shall leave the department he shall immediately deliver his badge to the board.
