(a) Compensation for the President of Council shall be the sum of $4,750 for the year 2002, $5,500 for the year 2003, $6,250 for the year 2004, and $7,000 for the year 2005 and each year thereafter.
(b) Compensation for the Vice-President of Council shall be the sum of $4,100 for the year 2002, $4,900 for the year 2003, $5,700 for the year 2004, and $6,500 for the year 2005 and each year thereafter.
(c) Compensation for each member of Council shall be the sum of $3,750 for the year 2002, $4,500 for the year 2003, $5,250 for the year 2004, and $6,000 for the year 2005 and each year thereafter.
(d) Increase in salaries payable hereunder to incumbent members of council shall comply with Ohio law. The salary increase set forth herein shall be paid to members of council who take office in the year 2002 and thereafter.
(e) All compensation for salaries paid hereunder shall be disbursed from the General Fund.
(f) (1) Incumbent or elected members of Council may request the Finance Director to reduce all or part of the compensation for a calendar year. The request shall be made in writing and delivered to the Finance Director no later than December 1 of the preceding year in which the salary reduction shall occur. The written salary reduction request may not be revoked.
(2) For calendar year 2004, the request for reduction in 2004, or for the remaining months of 2004, shall be delivered to the Finance Director on or before March 15, 2004.

The duties of the Clerk shall include the keeping of the official journal and records of Council. The Clerk shall provide notice to Council of all Council meetings, advertise public hearings and bid openings, and cause all ordinances and resolutions to be published as provided for in the Charter or by Council. The Clerk shall also perform any or all duties as Council may determine, not inconsistent with the Charter or this Administrative Code.

(a) In the event that the President-Mayor of Council is absent, disabled, or incapacitated, and the Vice President of Council is unable to assume the duties of President of Council and Acting Mayor, then in that event, first the Chairman of the Legislative Committee shall assume all power of the President-Mayor, and if he is unable, then the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee.
(b) Each person succeeding to the office of Acting President-Mayor shall possess, during such time, all power vested in such office that exists by ordinance, charter and statute
(c) The Acting President-Mayor shall serve in that capacity until a person with higher priority succession rights, as named herein, shall return and be capable of functioning in such office

(a) There is hereby created a Compliance Committee as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 passed by the Congress of the United States.
(b) Such Committee shall have all powers to hear appeals from grievances pursuant to such Act and Resolution 16-92 of the Municipality of Chardon.
(c) Interested parties to such grievances, as heard by the Committee, may further appeal pursuant to law.
(d) The Compliance Committee shall consist of the President of Council/Mayor, the Chairman of the Legislative Committee and the Chairman of the Safety Committee.
