8-7-1: NUMBERS REQUIRED:
Every owner, agent or person having control of any dwelling or business house or building of any description or kind within the city limits shall cause the same to be distinctly numbered. Every such building shall be so numbered within thirty (30) days after the completion of its construction or repair. (1974 Code § 6-401)
8-7-2: ASSIGNMENT OF NUMBERS:
The mayor and city council are hereby given the exclusive right to determine the building numbers as provided for in this chapter, such numbering shall be placed on the front of residence or other building and the mayor and city council shall determine what constitutes the front of any such residence or other building. (1974 Code § 6-402)
8-7-3: METHOD OF NUMBERING:
Every owner, agent or person having control of any dwelling or business house of any kind or description within the city limits shall, within thirty (30) days after the effective date hereof, cause the same to be numbered in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
   A.   Reference Point: All numbering on avenues within the original townsite of the city shall commence and be numbered from Main Street, and all streets within the original townsite of the city shall commence at the northeast corner of said original townsite, and one whole number shall be allowed for every twenty five feet (25') of ground whether improved or vacant.
   B.   Blocks: Each block on avenues shall be numbered by hundreds from Main Street, and each block on streets shall be numbered by hundreds from the northeast corner of the original townsite, the first block being 100 and successive hundreds thereafter. In numbering houses, the first of the number shall be the number of the block on the street or avenue on which it fronts followed by the number in the block on which it is situated. In numbering avenues, all blocks on the north and west side of Main Street shall be north.
   C.   Numbers; Odd Or Even: Even numbers shall be on the right hand and odd numbers shall be on the left hand on avenues from Main Street, on the left hand on streets, going from the northeast corner of the townsite. (1974 Code § 6-403)
