§6-601.   Definitions and Interpretation.
   In this Part, the following definitions shall apply:
   After hours–the period beginning at 10 p.m. of any and every evening, and ending at 5 a.m. of the following day in each case. Provided: in the case of school-sponsored athletic, social or entertainment events scheduled for a specific evening, the Mayor shall have authority to extend the hour for commencement of the curfew period encompassed within the definition of “after hours,” following advance notice by school authorities and information from them as to the time that such event shall close.
   Establishment–any privately owned place of business carried on for profit and/or any place of amusement or entertainment to which the public is invited; and/or any similar place.
   Minor–any person under the age of 17 years, that is, any person who shall not have reached his 17th birthday.
   Operator–any individual, firm, association, partnership or corporation owning, operating, managing or conducting any establishment; and whenever used in any section prescribing a penalty, the word “operator” as applied to associations and partnerships shall include the embers, partners, officers and managers thereof, or any of them, and as applied to corporations shall include the officers and managers thereof or any of them.
   Parent–either natural or adoptive parent or guardian or other adult person responsible for the custody or care of any minor.
   Public place–any public street, highway, road, alley, park, playground, vacant lot, public building, bus terminal, or similar place.
   Remain–to “loiter,” “idle,” “wander,” “stroll,” “play” or “be.”
   In this Part, the singular shall include the plural, the plural shall include the singular, and the masculine shall include the feminine.
