§ 172.071 APPOINTMENT.
   The Electrical Inspector shall be appointed for one year by the City Engineer by and with the advice and consent of the City Council.

§ 172.072 QUALIFICATIONS.
   The person chosen to fill the office of Electrical Inspector shall be a competent, licensed electrician, of good moral character and shall have at least four years’ experience as a journeyman in the practice of his or her trade, or two years’ training in a recognized college of electrical engineering, and in addition thereto two years of practical experience in electrical construction, shall be well versed in approved methods of electrical construction for safety to life and property, and the rules and regulations issued by the city’s Board of Electrical Examiners and Review. He or she shall be familiar with the National Electrical Code, as approved by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc., and other installation and safety rules and standards approved by the 2023 Edition of the National Electrical Code, as approved by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc., and other installation and safety regulations approved by the Reciprocal Electrical Council, Inc., RECI Manual, including technical amendments to the 2023 Edition of the National Electric Code. The Inspector shall also maintain a file of listed inspected electrical appliance cards issued by or for the Underwriters Laboratories, Incorporated. The Electrical Inspector shall be the electrical inspection authority as described in this chapter.

§ 172.073 OATH.
   The Electrical Inspector shall take and subscribe an oath which together with the certificate of his or her appointment shall be filed with the City Clerk.

§ 172.074 CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE.
   Before entering upon the discharge of his or her duties, the Electrical Inspector shall file certificates of insurance as required by City Council.

§ 172.075 COMPENSATION.
   The Electrical Inspector shall receive such salary as may be fixed by the City Council and such additional expense for transportation as may be made necessary under the provisions of this chapter or be authorized by the City Council.

§ 172.076 REMOVAL FROM OFFICE.
   Any violation of the provisions of this subchapter by the Electrical Inspector shall be sufficient cause for his or her removal from office, but he or she may be removed for other just cause.

§ 172.077 ENGAGING IN THE BUSINESS OF ELECTRICIAN PROHIBITED.
   It shall be unlawful for the Electrical Inspector to engage in the business of the installation and/or maintenance of electric wiring, electric devices and electrical material, either directly or indirectly, and he or she shall have no financial interest in any concern engaged in such business within his or her jurisdiction while holding the office of Electrical Inspector.

§ 172.078 ASSISTANTS.
   The Electrical Inspector shall have such assistants as may be appointed by the City Engineer and approved by the Council.
