§ 172.035 LICENSE REQUIRED.
   It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the occupation or trade of journeyman electrician in the installation, alteration, maintenance or repair of electrical wiring equipment, apparatus or fixtures for lights, heat, power, where the electromotive force exceeds 30 volts in or about buildings and/or structures within the city without having first passed the examination and obtained a license, as herein provided. This provision shall not apply to helpers and apprentices; provided, such work as they may do is performed under the direction and supervision of a licensed journeyman electrician who shall be on the premises at all times when such helpers or apprentices are performing such work on the premises. All applications for said examination shall be in writing. The examination shall consist of an oral or written examination as the Board shall determine and such other practical tests in examination at the discretion of the Board. Stenographic notes shall be taken of all oral examinations.

§ 172.036 LICENSE FEE.
   The fee for the license required by the provisions of this subchapter shall be $5 per year.

ELECTRICAL CODE
§ 172.050 SHORT TITLE.
   This subchapter shall be known as and may be cited as the “Electrical Code of the City of Wyandotte.”

§ 172.051 FEES.
   (A)   The fees for plan review, deposits, permits, inspections, bonds and late fees shall be established by City Council resolution. The fees shall be available for viewing in the office of the City Clerk, the Engineering and Building Department, and published on the city’s website.
   (B)   Any required deposit shall be made in the form of cash, cashier’s check or bond form approved by the code official and the City Attorney.

§ 172.052 ADOPTION OF ELECTRICAL CODE.
   (A)   A certain document, one copy of which is on file in the City Clerk’s office, being marked and designated as the 2023 National Electrical Code, is hereby referred to, adopted by the city and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this chapter, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed herein.
   (B)   A certain document, one copy of which is on file in the City Clerk’s office, being marked and designated as the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Construction Code Part 8 Electrical Code, is hereby referred to, adopted by the city and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this chapter, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed herein.
   (C)   The purpose of these codes are the practical safeguarding of persons and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity.
   (D)   This adoption of the 2023 National Electric Code and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Construction Code Part 8 Electrical Code is done in accordance with M.C.L.A. § 117.3(k).

ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR
§ 172.070 DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTION CREATED.
   There is hereby created the Department of Electrical Inspection.
