(a) That certain document, five complete copies of which are on file in the office of the City Clerk for public use and inspection, being marked and designated as the current Michigan Building Code, published and copyrighted by the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., is hereby adopted as the Building Code of the City for regulation of the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area and maintenance of all buildings and/or structures in the City; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; and declaring and establishing fire zones. Each and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms of such Code are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as fully as if set forth in this chapter, except as may be amended in this chapter.
(b) In the event of a conflict between any of the provisions of the current Michigan Building Code, as adopted in division (a) of this section, and any other provision of this chapter or any other local ordinance, resolution, rule or regulation, the local provision shall control. In the event of a conflict between any of the provisions of the current Michigan Building Code, as adopted in division (a) of this section, and any State law, rule or regulation, the stricter standard shall control.
