A. In an effort to maintain utility easements and rights of way, the city will try to maintain a minimum of twenty feet (20') of clearance from any electrical wire or guywire from all trees, shrubs, bushes, fencing and other structures in the city utility easements and rights of way that are part of the municipal electric system. The city has the right to trim or remove any tree that is in, or growing into, the city utility easement or right of way.
B. The trimming or removal of any tree in the city utility easement or right of way shall be the decision of the electric supervisor. Notification will be given to the property resident and/or owner and request made that written permission be given for said tree trimming or removal. Refusal to sign said resident and/or owner permission form will be referred to the city manager; however, the ultimate decision making authority, regardless of consent, lies with the city manager. In the event of an emergency, no notification will be given to trim a tree or shrub that has in some way caused or is causing an electrical outage.
C. Trees or shrubs that are grown in the city utility easements or rights of way will be removed in the event of a repair or improvements to city water and sewer lines. Notification will be given to the property owner for the need to remove said plantings. Fences that are built onto the city utility easement or right of way can and will be taken down in the event of a repair or improvement to the city water or sewer lines.
