13-240: AUTHORITY FOR FIREFIGHTING OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS:
The city is hereby authorized and empowered to provide fire protection outside the corporate limits of the city within an area hereinafter referred to. The fire department of the city is hereby authorized and directed to answer all outside calls within a distance of five (5) miles from the nearest fire station, and such further distance as has been approved by prior action of the council or as may be hereafter approved by the city manager, unless in the opinion of the fire chief it is inexpedient to do so on account of another fire in the city, broken apparatus, impassable or dangerous highways, or other physical conditions.
