The driver of a vehicle shall not back it into any intersection, or over a crosswalk, nor shall he or she back it otherwise unless the movement can be made in safety, and unless ample warning has been given by hand and horn or other signals.

The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall stop the vehicle immediately prior to reaching the sidewalk, or the sidewalk areas extending across any alleyway and, upon entering the roadway, he or she shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching on the roadway.
