The City is authorized to enter into agreements or contracts with nearby incorporated communities or governing bodies or other organizations to provide the members of such communities or organizations with fire protection or to establish a mutual aid system, or with individuals residing adjacent to the City. Whenever necessary to make an inspection to enforce any ordinance or resolution, or whenever there is reasonable cause to believe there exists an ordinance or resolution violation in any building or upon any premises within the jurisdiction of the City, the Fire Chief of the City may, upon presentation of proper credentials, enter such building or premises at all reasonable times to inspect the same or to perform any duty imposed upon him by ordinance; provided, that except in emergency situations or when consent of the owner and/or occupant to the inspection has been otherwise obtained, he shall give the owner and/or occupant, if they can be located after reasonable effort, twenty four (24) hours' written notice of the Fire Chief's intention to inspect. The notice transmitted to the owner and/or occupant shall state that the property owner has the right to refuse entry and that in the event such entry is refused, inspection may be made only upon issuance of a search warrant by a duly authorized Magistrate or Judge. In the event the owner and/or occupant refuses entry after such request has been made, the official is empowered to seek assistance from any court of competent jurisdiction in obtaining such entry. A. Election; Term: The department may elect a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, to be known as social officers. Such officers may be elected in any manner and for a term of one year, the election being held the same night as the annual election for the Chief and other active officers.
B. Duties: The duties of the social officers are to arrange for and manage any or all social functions sponsored by the department and to conduct the regular monthly business meeting.
C. Functions Not To Interfere With Other Officers: The functions and duties of the social officers shall in no way interfere with those of the regular department officers who are charged with the responsibility for all fire service activities of the department. (Ord. 810, 1-7-2013)
