MOTOR VEHICLE WEIGHT LIMITS
SECTION:
7-11-1: Prohibited Gross Axle Weight Rating On 5th Street South
A. No vehicle or trailer with a Gross Axle Weight Rating exceeding 12,000 pounds shall travel over 5th Street South.
B. Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) means the maximum weight determined by the manufacturer of a vehicle or trailer that can be placed on each of the axles of the vehicle or trailer.
C. Exceptions to this section.
1. Nothing in this section shall be construed to limit the GAWR of City or other government owned vehicles or trailers, school buses, or public transportation vehicles traveling over 5th Street South.
2. The City Public Works Director or Mayor may permit vehicles or trailers that exceed 12,000 pounds GAWR that are owned by private persons or entities and that are contracted to do construction or other work with the City or other government.
D. Any person operating a vehicle in violation of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. 848, 10-3-2022)
