13-3-2: FIRE CHIEF:
   A.   Appointment; Qualifications: The fire chief shall be the chief executive officer of the fire department. No person shall be eligible for the office of fire chief who has not had at least three (3) years of actual experience as a firefighter prior to his appointment. The fire chief shall be appointed by the city manager with the approval of the council. (2000 Code § 13-302)
   B.   Duties:
      1.   Generally: The fire chief shall diligently perform the duties imposed upon his office by the city manager and council. (2000 Code § 13-303)
      2.   Police Powers: While on active duty, the fire chief and members of the fire department shall have such police powers as are necessary for the efficient performance of their duties. The members shall have the right of entry on all real property for the purpose of discharging the duties imposed upon them.
      3.   Report: The chief of the fire department shall file a report with the city giving in detail a report of each fire alarm and false alarm, the names of members in attendance, time in service, location of fire, number of first to appear, hours worked and any other matter that might serve to fully acquaint the city council with the cause and extent of the fire. (2000 Code § 13-304)
