Every member of the police department shall wear a suitable badge to be furnished by the city, and any member who loses or destroys the same shall be required to pay the cost of replacing it. Whenever any member leaves the force, he shall immediately deliver his badge to the chief of police. No person except the members of the department shall wear the badge adopted by the governing body.
