10-3-6: WEAPONS AND FIREARMS:
   A.   Carrying Offensive Weapons: It is unlawful for any person to carry in hand or otherwise convey any air rifle, BB or pellet gun, slingshot, any offensive weapon of any kind, or any device capable of projecting any object which could do injury to person or property, in plain view or otherwise, on any street, highway, or public place where such action could be considered threatening or harmful to another, unless authorized by law or ordinance. (2000 Code § 10-306)
   B.   Reckless Conduct: It is unlawful for any person to engage in reckless conduct while having in his possession any shotgun, rifle or pistol, such actions consisting of creating a situation of unreasonable risk and probability of death or great bodily harm to another, and demonstrating a conscious disregard for the safety of another person. (2000 Code § 10-307)
   C.   Discharging Firearms Prohibited; Exceptions:
      1.   "Firearms" means any instrument used in the propulsion of shot, shells or bullets or other harmful objects by the action of gunpowder exploded within it, or by the action of compressed air within it, or by the power of springs and including what are commonly known as air rifles and BB guns.
      2.   No person shall discharge any species of firearm in the city except when doing so in the line of duty, by a law enforcement officer, when lawfully doing so in defense of oneself, of another person, or of property, or when otherwise authorized by law or ordinance. (2000 Code § 10-308)
