A. Application; Background Check: A current Oklahoma state bureau of investigation background check must be attached to the application.
1. Report From Chief Of Police: The chief of police or other proper officer shall read all pertinent application paperwork within forty eight (48) hours of the time of such receipt. A report thereon, favorable or otherwise, shall be made within five (5) working days after receiving the application or copy thereof.
2. Denial: If, as a result of such investigations, the applicant is found to be unsatisfactory, the chief of police shall so endorse on the application and return it to the city clerk's office, and no license shall be issued.
3. Approval: If, as a result of such investigation, the applicant is found to be satisfactory, the chief of police shall so endorse on the application and return it to the community development office, and the license shall then be issued contingent upon applicant meeting all other requirements.
4. Scope: This subsection shall pertain to all licenses and permits required in this title, including, but not limited to, peddlers, solicitors, itinerant merchants, and ice cream truck vendors.
5. Exceptions: No OSBI background check is needed for residential sales permits, amusement parks and circuses, chemical spraying, tree trimming or fireworks stands.
6. Discretion Of Community Development Director: Any other permits outside of the above mentioned are at the discretion of the community development director. (Ord. 1158, 9-10-2013)
B. Building Inspector; Construction: For the protection of health and safety, the building inspector shall make or cause to be made any inspection relative to the construction of buildings or other structures.
C. Other Investigations: All other investigations, except where otherwise provided, shall be made by the chief of police or other officer designated by the city manager. (Ord. 1035, 4-11-2006; amd. Ord. 1073, 3-11-2008, eff. 4-10-2008)
