7-3-7: TAX IMPOSED; RATES; EFFECTIVE DATES; PURPOSES:
The following city sales taxes, in the total amount of four percent (4%), shall be imposed and effective as indicated, unless otherwise extended by a vote of the people. Said taxes have been approved by a majority of the registered voters of the city voting on same in elections conducted in the manner prescribed by Oklahoma Statutes:
   A.   General Use: It is the purpose of the first and second cent sales taxes to provide revenues for the general use and benefit of the municipal government of the city. The following ordinances provided for the levy of the first and second cent sales taxes:
      Ordinance 432, effective January 1967
      Ordinance 570, approved September 9, 1975
   B.   Capital Improvements; Economic Development: It hereby is declared to be the purpose of the revenues provided by the one percent (1%) excise tax levied by this Ordinance to provide funds for constructing, equipping, operating and maintaining a family entertainment and recreational center facility; for the purpose of providing capital improvements to parks, streets, water system and sewer lines, ambulance services, senior citizen facilities and downtown renovation; for the purpose of providing funds for economic development within or near the City of Seminole; for the purpose of retiring certain outstanding indebtedness of The Seminole Utilities Authority; and for paying principal and interest on indebtedness incurred on behalf of the City for the foregoing purposes, Said one percent (1%) sales tax shall cease to be collected after the indebtedness incurred for the foregoing purposes shall have been paid or when sufficient funds shall have been collected from said levy to retire such indebtedness, or October 1, 2052, whichever shall be earlier.
   C.   Capital Improvements; Economic Development: It is hereby declared to be the purpose of the revenues provided by the continued levy of the one-half percent (0.5%) excise tax levied by this subsection to provide revenue for capital improvements of the city, and for economic development within or near the city; and for payment of the principal of and interest on indebtedness incurred on behalf of the city for said purposes. Said additional one-half percent (0.5%) shall cease to be collected after March 31, 2022.
   D.   Capital Improvements; Emergency Services Equipment: It is hereby declared to be the purpose of the revenues provided by the one-half percent (1/2%) excise tax levied by this subsection to provide revenues for the purpose of acquiring emergency services equipment, funding ambulance operations, providing capital improvements of the city of Seminole, Oklahoma, including, but not limited to, street improvements and expansion of the water play system and to make deposits in relation to indebtedness incurred on behalf of said city for such purposes. Said one-half percent (1/2%) sales tax shall cease to be collected after October 1, 2030. (Ord. 824, 1-31-1995; amd.
