1-7F-2: POWERS AND DUTIES:
The department of public health shall perform such duties, and have such powers, as may be prescribed by ordinance, law and the rules and regulations of the state department of health. (1989 Code § 2-503)

1-7G-1: MARSHAL:
There shall be a city marshal, who shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council. He shall have such powers and duties as the mayor and city council may from time to time determine. (1989 Code § 2-504; amd. Res. 1-16-01(B), 1-16-2001; 2002 Code)
1-7G-2: CHIEF OF POLICE:
There shall be a chief of police, appointed by the mayor for an indefinite term, subject to confirmation by the city council, and removable by the city council. The chief of police shall be an officer of the city, and shall have supervision and control of the police department. The mayor, with the approval of the council, and upon the recommendation of the chief of police, shall hire such other police officers as the mayor and council deem necessary. 1-7G-3: FIRE CHIEF:
There shall be a fire chief, appointed by the mayor for an indefinite term, subject to confirmation by the city council, and removable by the city council. The fire chief shall be an officer of the city, and shall have supervision and control of the fire department. The chief shall appoint volunteer members of the fire department in a manner directed by this code and bylaws of the fire department. (Ord. 09-02-17, 2-24-2009)
