ARTICLE D.  CITY ATTORNEY

1-7D-1: APPOINTMENT, REMOVAL:
There shall be a department of law, the head of which shall be the city attorney, who shall be appointed by the mayor and subject to confirmation by the city council. Removal of the city attorney shall be at the discretion of the mayor and council. (1989 Code § 2-501; amd. 2002 Code)
1-7D-2: POWERS AND DUTIES:
   A.   Officer Of City: The city attorney shall be an officer of the city, and shall have supervision and control of the department of law.
   B.   Chief Legal Advisor: The city attorney shall be the chief legal adviser of the council, all officers, departments and agencies of the city government in matters relating to their official powers and duties. He shall represent the city in proceedings in the courts. He shall perform all services incident to his position which may be required by law or ordinance. (1989 Code § 2-501)

1-7E-1: APPOINTMENT:
There shall be a street commissioner appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council. (1989 Code § 2-502; amd. Res. 1-16-01(B), 1-16-2001; 2002 Code)
1-7E-2: PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT, EMPLOYEES:
The mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council, may appoint a public works superintendent and public works employees as they deem necessary. (1989 Code § 2-502; amd. 2002 Code)
