1-7B-1: APPOINTMENT:
The position of city clerk/treasurer shall be filled by the mayor, subject to the confirmation by the city council, and the person so appointed shall hold office at will of the city council. (Ord. 724, 6-17-2003; amd. Ord. 725, 10-21-2003)
1-7B-2: DUTIES:
   A.   Attend Meetings, Records, Seal: The city clerk/treasurer shall attend meetings of the council and shall keep a journal of its proceedings, as provided by law. He shall enter at length all ordinances passed by the council in the ordinance book, as required by law. He shall keep the seal of the city and affix it to documents as required by law or ordinance.    B.   Revenues, Deposits, Accounting: The city clerk/treasurer shall receive all monies of the city paid to him in accordance with law or ordinance and shall deposit daily all funds coming into his hands in such depositories as the council may designate. He shall disburse such funds in the manner provided by applicable law or ordinance. He shall keep proper books of account and other financial records, properly recording all financial transactions.    C.   Other Prescribed Powers And Duties: He shall have all other powers and duties prescribed by law or ordinance. (1989 Code § 2-402)

1-7D-1: APPOINTMENT, REMOVAL:
There shall be a department of law, the head of which shall be the city attorney, who shall be appointed by the mayor and subject to confirmation by the city council. Removal of the city attorney shall be at the discretion of the mayor and council. (1989 Code § 2-501; amd. 2002 Code)
1-7D-2: POWERS AND DUTIES:
   A.   Officer Of City: The city attorney shall be an officer of the city, and shall have supervision and control of the department of law.
   B.   Chief Legal Advisor: The city attorney shall be the chief legal adviser of the council, all officers, departments and agencies of the city government in matters relating to their official powers and duties. He shall represent the city in proceedings in the courts. He shall perform all services incident to his position which may be required by law or ordinance. (1989 Code § 2-501)
