1-7D-2: POWERS AND DUTIES:
   A.   Officer Of City: The city attorney shall be an officer of the city, and shall have supervision and control of the department of law.
   B.   Chief Legal Advisor: The city attorney shall be the chief legal adviser of the council, all officers, departments and agencies of the city government in matters relating to their official powers and duties. He shall represent the city in proceedings in the courts. He shall perform all services incident to his position which may be required by law or ordinance. (1989 Code § 2-501)

1-7E-1: APPOINTMENT:
There shall be a street commissioner appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council. (1989 Code § 2-502; amd. Res. 1-16-01(B), 1-16-2001; 2002 Code)
1-7E-2: PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT, EMPLOYEES:
The mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council, may appoint a public works superintendent and public works employees as they deem necessary. (1989 Code § 2-502; amd. 2002 Code)

1-7F-1: ESTABLISHED:
There shall be a department of public health, the head of which shall be the director of the county health department unless another person is appointed by the mayor for an indefinite term, subject to confirmation by the city council, and removable by the council. Any mention in the ordinances of the city of "superintendent of health", "superintendent of public health", or "health officer", shall be deemed to refer to the county health director unless otherwise indicated by the context in which such words may be found. He shall be an officer of the city, and shall have supervision and control of the department of public health. (1989 Code § 2-503; amd. 2002 Code)
1-7F-2: POWERS AND DUTIES:
The department of public health shall perform such duties, and have such powers, as may be prescribed by ordinance, law and the rules and regulations of the state department of health. (1989 Code § 2-503)
