No person may be appointed as a member of the board who has a criminal record which would prohibit that individual from passing a State background check at the level necessary to receive sensitive information and participate in a police department ride-along. A felony conviction, or a conviction for a misdemeanor involving violence or moral turpitude after appointment to the board, shall be a basis for removal from the board.
