§ 97.055 APPOINTMENT; TERM.
   There is hereby created the office of Water Safety Officer. The Commissioner of Public Property shall be ex officio Water Safety Officer. The term of office of the Water Safety Officer shall be coextensive with that of the Commissioner of Public Property.

§ 97.056 DEPUTIES.
   The Water Safety Officer shall have authority to appoint such Deputy Water Safety Officers as may be necessary, subject to the approval of the City Council.

§ 97.057 COMPENSATION.
   The Water Safety Officer and the Deputy Water Safety Officers shall receive compensation as the City Council may establish from time to time.

§ 97.058 POWERS AND DUTIES.
   (A)   The Water Safety Officer and Deputy Water Safety Officers shall have the authority to issue boat motor licenses and operators’ permits, to enforce the city ordinances and adopted state regulations pertaining to the operation of boats on city lakes, to enforce all swimming and water sports rules and regulations, and to board any boat operated on any city lake.
   (B)   The Water Safety Officer and Deputy Water Safety Officers shall be charged with the duty of supervision of the use of the city lakes by the public and requiring appropriate conduct and boat operation on the city lakes.

DOCKS AND SIMILAR STRUCTURES
§ 97.070 AUTHORITY OVER DOCKS AND THE LIKE.
   The Commissioner of Public Property shall have charge of, supervise, and control the installation, maintenance, and use of all docks or other types of construction extending into the lakes of the city.

§ 97.071 CONSTRUCTION PERMIT REQUIRED.
   No dock or other type of construction shall be built or permitted to remain on the lakes of the city without the owner first securing a permit from the City Clerk.
