(A) The members of the Fire Department shall annually elect officers of that Department. These officers shall include a president, secretary, and treasurer, and they shall act as a board and shall be responsible for the expenditure of all funds received by the Fire Department treasurer, including, but not limited to the foreign fire fund. The Fire Chief shall be an ex officio member of the board and shall attend all meetings but shall have no vote on the proceedings.
(B) The treasurer of the Fire Department shall give a sufficient bond to the city. The bond shall be approved by the Mayor and the City Council, conditioned upon the faithful performance by the treasurer of his or her duties under this section and the rules and regulations provided by state statutes. The treasurer’s books shall be audited annually by the city auditors.
