(A) The purpose of this division is to encourage owners and fire alarm businesses to properly use and maintain the operational effectiveness of fire alarm systems in order to improve their reliability and reduce or eliminate false fire alarm and nuisance fire alarm dispatching.
(B) This division governs fire alarm systems intended to summon fire department personnel and requires reporting the state mandated annual testing results to the fire department via the department's third party vendor for data collection. Assessment of fee based inspections for excessive fire alarms and nuisance fire alarms dispatching provides procedures for repeat offenders which may include cost recovery for the fire department response.
