§ 18-38  STREET OR SIDEWALK SALES.
   All sales by any person from the streets and sidewalks of the city along a parade route 30 minutes prior to the parade, during the parade or 15 minutes after the parade are prohibited.

ARTICLE III:  STREET NUMBERS
§ 18-51  DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this article, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   HOUSES AND BUILDINGS and BUSINESS LOCATIONS.
      (1)   The principal house or building.
      (2)   This section shall not apply to accessory buildings or a lot occupied by a principal or main building.  Business locations without a principal building will be required to display an identifying number that is clearly visible.  BUSINESS LOCATIONS include INDUSTRIES.

§ 18-52  PURPOSE.
   The purpose of this section is to provide for orderliness and ease of identification of houses, buildings, industries and business locations, to provide for identification of specific locations for the sake of expediting quick response for all emergency services including police, fire, ambulance and any others, and for the public good in general.

§ 18-53  APPLICABILITY.
   This section shall apply to all of the areas within the corporate limits of the city and for subdivision review and development purposes, all of the extraterritorial zoning jurisdiction and all preexisting development must come into compliance.

§ 18-54  DUTY OF OWNER TO DISPLAY NUMBER.
   It shall be the duty of the owner of any and all of the building categories listed above to clearly display street address numbers on the assigned building so as to be visible from the nearest public vehicular area, according to the definition of G.S. § 20-4.01.

§ 18-55  FIRE CHIEF TO ASSIGN NUMBERS.
   The Fire Chief and his or her duly designated representative will be assigning street address numbers. Property owners shall be responsible for applying for numbers by mail, or in person, at the Fire Department.

§ 18-56  DISPLAY, VISIBILITY, SIZE AND PLACEMENT.
   Prior to issuance of certificate of occupancy for new construction or within 30 days of the receipt of a notice from the Fire Chief assigning an address to a particular building, the owner or occupant of the building shall display or cause to be displayed the assigned address.  The displayed street address number shall be no less than three inches high on single and duplex buildings, no less than six inches high on multi-unit buildings, attached to the principal use structure and clearly legible from the nearest public vehicular area.  Should the structure be too far from the public vehicular area for the numerals to be seen, the property owner shall also display an additional set of numerals legible from vehicles traveling at the prevailing speed on the roadway.  The numbers shall be located where the main driveway to the building intersects the nearest public or private street.

§ 18-57  CONTRASTING COLORS.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person or corporation to remove or deface a street address which is displayed in accordance with § 18-56.  It shall also be unlawful to allow an incorrect street address to remain on a building.
   (B)   Identifying numbers displayed must be properly and perpetually maintained.
