9-1C-4: DISCONTINUANCE OF SERVICE BY DEPARTMENT:
   A.   Reasons For Discontinuance: The department may refuse to supply or may discontinue service to any customer for violations of this chapter or for failure to pay bills or upon request by the property owner to discontinue service. The department may refuse or discontinue service to any customer who requires or uses such volume of water that the water service to any other customer may be thereby impaired. The department shall discontinue service to any customer who makes an unauthorized connection to a city water line or bypasses a city water meter.
   B.   Discontinuance Not To Release Customer From Charges Due: Discontinuance of service for any cause stated in subsection A of this section shall not release the customer from his obligation to pay the city for bills or charges already incurred.
   C.   Charge For Discontinuance; Restoration: Whenever water service has been discontinued as provided in subsection A of this section, the customer shall be charged a fee as determined by resolution or ordinance of the city council for the discontinuance. Restoration of service at the customer's request, and after payment of all bills due, shall be done at the convenience of the department. (Ord. 904, 3-9-2011)
9-1C-5: RESTORATION AT OTHER THAN REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS:
For restoration of service at any time other than regular business hours, the customer shall be charged the actual cost of labor, which shall be billed at time and one-half (1/2), with a minimum charge of one hour. (1973 Code § 13.16.070)
9-1C-6: TERMINATION OF SERVICE BY CUSTOMER:
The customer who wishes to terminate water service shall give at least three (3) days' notice to the department. No charge will be made for shutting off the supply. A customer who terminates water service and requests restoration of service at the same location within ten (10) days shall be charged a reconnection fee as determined by resolution of the mayor and city council. 9-1C-7: NOTIFY CITY OF PROBLEMS WITH WATER SUPPLY OR EQUIPMENT:
The customer shall notify the department immediately should the service be unsatisfactory for any reason, or should there be any accident, defects or trouble affecting the water supply or equipment and lines. (1973 Code § 13.16.090)
9-1C-8: INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF FIRE HYDRANTS:
Fire hydrants for the exclusive protection of any particular property shall be installed and maintained by the owner of that property. (1973 Code § 13.16.100)
9-1C-9: FIRE FLOW MINIMUMS FOR BUILDING CONSTRUCTION OR WATER HOOKUP:
When it is necessary, in the opinion of the city engineer, that any new construction, remodeled construction or other water hookup is made which should require the establishment of certain fire flow minimums, then those minimum standards then in effect in Pierce County and which are adopted by the Pierce County code are hereby incorporated by reference and established as those standards, requirements and minimums within and for all water service customers of the city of Orting.
