A. Required; Signatures; Nontransferable:
1. No person, firm or corporation, either as principal or agent, shall conduct, pursue or operate any calling, trade, profession or occupation listed in section 3-1-2 of this chapter, or carry on any activity set forth in section 3-1-3 of this chapter, without first procuring a license or permit therefor, whichever the case may be, except as may be otherwise prescribed by law.
2. Licenses shall be signed by the City Clerk; permits shall be signed by the City Manager.
3. In no case shall a license or permit be returned or transferred.
B. Separate License For Each Business; Limitations Of License:
1. A separate license must be obtained for each branch of an establishment or separate place of business in which the trade, calling, profession or occupation listed in section 3-1-2 of this chapter is carried on.
2. For solicitors and peddlers, each individual going door to door doing business within the City limits must have a separate license.
3. Each license shall authorize the party obtaining such license to carry on, pursue, or conduct only that trade, calling, profession, or occupation described in such license.
C. Separate Permit Per Occurrence; Limitations Of Permit: Unless otherwise provided, a separate permit for an activity enumerated in section 3-1-3 of this chapter must be obtained for each occurrence of such activity, and each permit shall authorize the party obtaining the permit to carry on or conduct only the activity described in the permit. There is hereby levied a License Tax on the following callings, trades, businesses, avocations and occupations. The amount of the License Tax for each occupation shall be set by resolution of the City Council. Such tax shall be paid to the City Clerk prior to the issuance of the license required in section 3-1-1 of this chapter. The taxes shall be as set forth by resolution of the City Council, for the following: (Ord. 01-01-2002, 1-24-2002)
Alcoholic beverage sales (chapter 2 of this title).
Auction merchants.
Contractors:
Building moving
Electrical
Fence contractor
General building
Mechanical
Plumbing
Storm shelter construction
Daycare centers (chapter 3 of this title).
Home occupations.
Nursing, rest or convalescent homes (chapter 4 of this title).
Pawnbrokers (chapter 5 of this title).
Security services.
Solicitors and peddlers (chapter 6 of this title):
One day
One week
One month
One year
Taxicabs (chapter 8 of this title).
