The commissioner may disqualify an approved agency or inspector from performing inspections pursuant to this code for cause. The approved agency or inspector shall be given prior notice of the proposed disqualification and the opportunity to contest such action. A list of approved agencies and inspectors who have been disqualified from performing inspections shall be maintained and made available to the public on the department's website.

Special inspection agencies are approved agencies and shall be subject to the provisions of article 114 of this chapter. Special inspection agencies and special inspectors shall satisfy the provisions of this article and the rules of the department as to qualifications in order to perform special inspections required by chapter 17 of the New York city building code or elsewhere in this code or department rules.
The commissioner may disqualify a special inspection agency or a special inspector from performing special inspections pursuant to this code for cause. The special inspection agency or special inspector shall be given prior notice of the proposed disqualification and the opportunity to contest such action. A list of special inspection agencies and special inspectors who have been disqualified from performing special inspection shall be maintained and made available to the public upon request.
A special inspector shall maintain records of special inspections on a building by building basis for at least six years or for such period as the commissioner shall determine and shall make such records available to the department upon request.
