234.10 AUXILIARY FIRE FORCE.
   (a)   Creation; Appointment of Members. There is hereby created, within the Department of Public Safety, an Auxiliary Fire Force, the members of which shall be appointed by the Director of Public Safety.

   (b)   Duration of Service. Auxiliary Fire Officers shall serve as long as the Director may direct or until a resignation submitted by any such member is accepted by the Director.

   (c)   Minimum Age; Total Strength. Members of the Auxiliary Fire Force shall not be under the age of nineteen years at the time of their appointment. The total strength of the Auxiliary Fire Force shall at no time exceed twenty-five members.

   (d)   Commanding Officer. The Fire Chief shall be the commanding officer of the Auxiliary Fire Force and, subject to the approval of the Director, shall have control of the assignment, training, stationing and the direction of work of such Force.

   (e)   Duties Assigned by Fire Chief; Uniforms. The Auxiliary Fire Force shall perform only such duties as are assigned by the Fire Chief and shall act only when in the prescribed uniform or portion of uniform. The Director is hereby authorized to prescribe the type of uniform or part thereof which shall be worn. The Fire Chief shall prescribe the time and place such uniform or portion thereof shall be worn.
   (f)   Uniform Allowances. The Director of Public Safety and the City Auditor are hereby authorized and directed to pay to each member of the Auxiliary Fire Force twenty-five dollars ($25. 00) as a uniform allowance initially on appointment and annually each October thereafter. However, no individual member shall receive more than two such payments in any calendar year.

   (g)   Obedience to Chain of Command. Members of the Auxiliary Fire Force shall obey the chain of command of the Fire Division and shall take orders from all regularly appointed members thereof.

   (h)   Rules and Regulations. The Director is hereby authorized and directed to promulgate such executive orders, rules and regulations as he deems either necessary or desirable in the administration of the Auxiliary Fire Force. The Fire Chief shall, with the approval of the Director, prescribe rules and regulations for the conduct and control of the Force.
