9-3-5: PARKING SPACES RESERVED FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES:
   A.   The city council is authorized to designate, reserve, and sign appropriate parking spaces within the city for the exclusive use of persons with disabilities.
   B.   Parking in spaces designated and signed pursuant to subsection A of this section shall be prohibited by all motor vehicles not bearing registration plates pursuant to 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/3-609 and 5/3-616, or proper permit as provided in subsection C of this section.
   C.   Pursuant to 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/11-1301.2, the city police department is authorized to issue a special permit to persons with disabilities upon receipt of a statement by a licensed physician certifying the nature of the disability. The said police department may issue permits permanently or for a specified period of time when the disability is temporary as certified by the physician.
   D.   Special permits issued pursuant to subsection C of this section shall be displayed in the lower left portion of the rear window of the vehicle in which the person with a disability is a driver or passenger. (Ord., 2-23-1982; amd. 2010 Code)
