GENERAL PROVISIONS
Subject to the provisions of the Charter, the Mayor shall be chief executive officer of the city and as such, shall familiarize himself particularly with all matters concerning the administration of the city's business and shall keep himself fully informed with respect thereto.

At the first meeting after their election the City Council shall select one of the councilmen to act as Mayor Pro Tempore during his term of office. The Mayor Pro Tempore shall, in case of sickness or absence of the Mayor, perform all the duties of the mayor and he shall be compensated for his services as prescribed by the City Council.
