The 911 system established by this chapter shall cover the service area, including all of the area within the legal boundaries of the limits of the city. The governing bodies of other counties or cities within the reasonable service area of the city who have adopted ordinances substantially similar to this chapter may, subject to the agreement of the city council, enter intergovernmental agreements between the city and such other cities and counties, as authorized by South Dakota Codified Laws 34-45-3, for the administration of the 911 system throughout this system established by the city.
