§ 11-67. DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this article, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ADVANCEMENT. See PROMOTION.
   BOARD. The Civil Service Board created pursuant to this article.
   CIVIL SERVICE. Includes all sworn, law enforcement officer positions in the town police department, excluding any law enforcement officer positions of the rank of sergeant or above.
   ELIGIBILITY. A list of the names of persons who have been found qualified through suitable tests for employment, arranged in order of merit.
   MEMBER. One of the five voting members of the Board, or, in their absence, the alternate voting members.
   PART-TIME EMPLOYEE. An employee who does not work regularly over twenty (20) hours per week.
   TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE. Any employee who has filled a temporary appointment of a position deemed to be of relatively short duration (usually less than six months) without competition or review by the Board. The civil service rules shall provide for temporary employment without examination, for a period of up to six months, with successive temporary employment only when approved by the Board in order to avoid stoppage of orderly conduct of the business of the town.
