11-1-1: SHORT TITLE:
This title shall be known and may be cited as the SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS of Mason City, referred to herein as the "regulations". (Ord. 15-3, 6-2-2015)
11-1-2: PURPOSE:
The purpose of this title is to encourage orderly community development and provide for the regulation and control of the extension of public improvements, public services, and utilities, the improvement of land, and the design of subdivisions, consistent with the City's approved Comprehensive Plan and other specific community plans.
These regulations support Comprehensive Plan policies for the creation of new neighborhoods and the revitalization of existing neighborhoods that are walkable, served by public utilities, and have good access to commercial services, schools, recreational amenities and open space. 11-1-3: JURISDICTION:
These regulations apply to all subdivisions of land, as defined herein, located within the corporate limits of the City, or within two (2) miles of the corporate limits of the City, pursuant to section 354.9 of the Code of Iowa. (Ord. 15-3, 6-2-2015)
