4-2A-1: DEFINITIONS:
For the purposes of this article, the following definitions shall apply:
GARBAGE: Waste from the storage, preparation, cooking and serving of food and a normal accumulation of combustible material associated with household operation.
RECYCLABLES: All types of newspapers and inserts, paperboard, corrugated cardboard, clear glass food and beverage containers, tin and aluminum cans, plastic milk, water, orange juice and windshield washer fluid jugs (#2HDPE) and other items as deemed necessary by the Public Services Department and the Sanitation Division.
REFUSE: All refuse not classified as garbage including, but not limited to, both combustible and noncombustible material including paper, wood, wood furniture, bedding, tin cans, metal, furniture, dirt, glass, crockery, ashes, dead animals and solid industrial and commercial waste. Refuse shall in no way include garbage as defined herein and as also defined in section 4-2C-1 of this chapter, tires, or containers containing toxic liquids such as paint, paint thinners, etc.
YARD WASTE: All organic debris (e.g., grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, bark, branches, flowers, etc.) which is produced as part of yard and garden development and maintenance. This definition does not include tree stumps. (Ord. 90-28, 12-18-1990; amd. Ord. 93-26, 8-17-1993)
