§ 31.01 DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT; ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION.
   (A)   Pursuant to I.C. 36-7-12-4, the Council finds it necessary to create a body with the powers to finance economic development or pollution control facilities under the Act, and hereby establishes the City of Linton Department of Economic Development (the Department). The Department is established to exercise the powers set forth in the Act or otherwise granted by law. Pursuant to I.C. 36-7-12-5(d), the Department will be controlled by a board of five members to be known as the City of Linton Economic Development Commission (the Commission), consisting of three members to be selected by the Mayor, one member nominated by the Council and one member nominated by the Greene County Council, all of which shall be appointed by the Mayor.
   (B)   This section shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Council in the manner provided by law.

§ 31.02 FIRE DEPARTMENT TRAINING CLASSES.
   (A)   Establishing approval of training classes for firefighters, such as for firefighting, E.M.T., safety classes, paramedic training with the approval of the Fire Chief, Mayor, and Board of Works of the City of Linton. The city will pay for the classes, time, and transportation to the classes if so approved and permission given by the mentioned afore persons by verbal or written orders.
   (B)   This order will be in force retroactive back to January 10, 1894.
   (C)   This section shall be in force and effect as aforementioned and after passage by Common Council of the City of Linton and the Mayor.

§ 31.03 FIVE-MEMBER LEGISLATIVE BODY.
   (A)   The City of Linton, Indiana, hereby adopts the procedure set out in I.C. 36-4-6-5 for the establishment of a five-member governing body.
   (B)   The legislative body shall be composed of five members elected from districts established under division (C) below.
   (C)   (1)   The legislative body shall divide the city into five districts that:
         (a)   Are composed of contiguous territory;
         (b)   Are reasonably compact; and
         (c)   Contain, as nearly as possible, equal population.
      (2)   This division shall be made in 1982 and then every ten years thereafter.
   (D)   Each voter of the City of Linton may vote for one candidate. The candidates receiving the most votes in their respective districts are elected to the legislative body.
   (E)   This section shall take effect and be in force on and after its passage and approval by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Linton, Indiana.
