11-2-5: WORK EXEMPTED FROM PERMIT REQUIREMENT:
   A.   The following are exempted from the permit requirement:
      1.   One-story detached accessory buildings, provided the projected roof area does not exceed one hundred eighty (180) square feet, and carports and awnings;
      2.   Fences and walls not over six feet (6') high;
      3.   Retaining walls which are not over four feet (4') high;
      4.   Interior repair and remodeling, provided such work does not involve the removal or replacement of load bearing walls and/or structural sections of floors and ceilings;
      5.   Repair or replacement of roofing materials such as vapor barriers, finish roofing, shingles, etc.; provided the work does not involve the replacement of any structural portion of the roof such as rafters or trusses;
      6.   Repair, replacement or installation of exterior siding. (1983 Code § 15.04.070)
   B.   Exemption from the permit requirements of this chapter shall not be deemed as granting authorization for any work to be done in any manner in violation of the provisions of this chapter and the international building code.
