Sec. 7.10. - Social Services.
Pursuant to Section 7.01, the Executive Board of the Fayette County Children's Bureau shall be terminated on the effective date of this Charter. In order to assure broad citizen participation and involvement in the operation and management of the total social services program of the Urban County Government, the members of the former Executive Board of the Fayette County Children's Bureau shall constitute a five-member Lexington-Fayette Urban County Social Services Advisory Board. Said advisory board shall advise the Department of Social Services on all matters pertaining to the operation, administration and management of all welfare, domestic relations, juvenile and children's services programs provided by the Urban County Government.
The terms of the original members of said board shall be equivalent to the unexpired terms of the members of the former Executive Board of the Fayette County Children's Bureau. All vacancies in said positions occurring after the effective date of this Charter shall be filled by the Mayor in accordance with the provisions of Section 7.02 of this Charter.
The Council shall, within ninety (90) days of the effective date of this Charter, increase the size of the Social Services Advisory Board to nine (9) members to be appointed in accordance with the provisions of Section 7.02 of this Charter.
Annotation—This section is invalid only "insofar as that section might be construed to impinge upon the duties and membership of the Social Services Advisory Committee created by KRS 205.330." Holsclaw v. Stephens, supra, at 481. Subsequently, KRS 205.330 was repealed.
