The director, in consultation with the chief in whose division a vacancy occurs, shall determine the specific recruiting methods to be used; but, for appointments to the positions of police officer and fire fighter only, at a minimum he will prepare examination or recruitment announcements which shall be used to give public notice of vacancies by publication. Examination or recruitment announcements will describe the duties of the position, minimum qualifications, salary, closing date for filing applications (where applicable), testing or other selection procedures and such other information as the director deems appropriate.
