2-1-1: CREATION OF BOARD:
There is hereby created a combined city and county planning board pursuant to and under the provisions of title 11, chapter 38, Revised Codes of Montana, 1947, as amended by chapters 189 and 190 of the laws of the thirty ninth legislative assembly of the state of Montana, 1965, to be designated and known as "the Lewistown city-county planning board". 2-1-2: BOARD MEMBERSHIP:
A city-county planning board shall consist of not less than nine (9) members to be appointed as follows:
   (A)   Two (2) official members shall be appointed by the board of county commissioners who may in the discretion of the board of county commissioners be employed by or hold public office in the county. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965)
   (B)   Two (2) official members shall be appointed by the city commission who may in the discretion of the city commission be employed by or hold public office in the city. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965; amd. Ord. 1664, 1-3-2000)
   (C)   Two (2) citizen members to be appointed by the city manager of the city. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965; amd. Ord. 1663, 1-3-2000)
   (D)   Two (2) citizen members shall be appointed by the board of county commissioners. The two (2) members may reside outside the city limits but within the jurisdictional area of the planning board. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965)
   (E)   The ninth member shall be selected by the eight (8) officers and citizen members hereinabove provided for with the consent and approval of the board of county commissioners and the city commission. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965; amd. Ord. 1664, 1-3-2000)
2-1-3: TERM OF OFFICE:
The terms of the members who are officers of any governmental unit represented on the board shall be coextensive with their respective terms of office to which they have been elected or appointed; the terms of the other members shall be two (2) years, except that the terms of the first members appointed shall be fixed by agreement and rule of the governing bodies represented on the board for one or two (2) years in order that a minimum number of terms shall expire in any year. Nothing herein contained shall prevent the reappointment of a member whose term has expired. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965)
2-1-4: VACANCIES:
Vacancies occurring on the board of official members and by death or resignation of citizen members, shall be filled by the governing bodies having appointed them for the unexpired term. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965)
Vacancies occurring in citizen members on the board at the end of a term shall be filled alternately by the city manager and the board of county commissioners, commencing with the city manager. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965; amd. Ord. 1663, 1-3-2000)
Absence from three (3) consecutive regular meetings of the board shall constitute a resignation from the board and upon request of the president such vacancy shall be immediately filled as above set forth. (Ord. 1232, 6-8-1965)
